Two landmarks achieved in the same month as our one hundredth newsletter goes out at the same time as we commit to our four hundredth project! It’s heartwarming to receive the reports which come back from remote villages or schools demonstrating how lives are transformed when fresh water is made available. However, the stream of requests for help is relentless and comes from many African countries including some in war zones or those neighbouring them which are inundated with refugees. So many in Africa still need help at a time when conflicts in other parts of the world make the news headlines.
John Fallows has decided to step down as our IT specialist after 13 years. We are very grateful for his amazing contribution over that time, especially as he and Jocelyn moved south in 2023. Going forward John’s old role will be split. I’m delighted that Simon and Ruth Lees are now looking after our website whilst Gordon MacDonald is dealing with communications to our supporters (otherwise known as mail chimps!). The importance to Wilmslow Wells of good speedy communication through IT cannot be overestimated. This not only applies to our local supporters but also to the project teams working in Africa where exchanging information instantly to remote areas is helpful.
